Colombia’s leading brewing company Bavaria SA registered a drop in sales of 5% for the first four months of 2011 compared to the same period last year, Portafolio reported Tuesday.
Bavaria’s iconic Colombian beers such Aguila, Costeña, Poker, Club Colombia, Redd’s, as well as Pilsen, Peroni and Miller had dropped in sales to 95 gallons.
The company attributed this drop a fall in consumption due to the rainy season and to lack of affordability resulting from a consumer tax rise, although the company noted a slight increase in sales between February and March 2011 compared to the same months in 2010.
