The Colombian police have seized about $250 million in assets belonging to Colombian drug traffickers who work for the Sinaloa cartel, Mexico’s largest and most powerful drug gang, Colombian and international media reported.
Associated Press reported that 301 assets, such as cars, houses, and businesses were seized in a nationwide raid that covered six districts, including Bogota.
The assets reportedly belonged to members of the Cifuentes Villa drug gang who worked with the head of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquin Guzman, alias “El Chapo,” to launder money and transport cocaine.
According to news agency RCN, the investigation was conducted by a joint task force consisting of police from Colombia, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Paraguay and Panama.
