The Colombian army has uncovered 100kg of marijuana at a sugar cane plantation in the south west of the country, according to newspaper El Espectador.
The haul, found near the road linking the towns of Padilla and Corinto, in the department of Cauca, has an estimated street value of $217,000.
According to the army report, soldiers found a “suspicious package covered in black plastic” while patrolling the perimeter of the plantation.
On opening it, the soldiers found 100 packets containing around 1kg of marijuana each.
The soldiers, from the army’s Third Brigade, were patrolling the area as part of ongoing efforts to fight drug traffickers and criminal groups in Cauca.
