Colombia’s capital celebrates 20th anniversary of festival Rock al Parque 2014

Bogota’s Rock al Parque festival celebrates its 20th anniversary with a strong lineup of acts from across Colombia and around the world.

A mix of national and international Colombian groups will grace the stage at this year’s event, encompassing a wide range of genres. The guest list begins with two US-based Colombian bands, Headcrusher and Thy Antichrist, followed by Bogota’s Neurosis Ingrand and northern Colombian group Nepentes.

The government-sponsored festival, which has attracted local and international bands to Colombia’s capital since 1995, will take place in two of Bogota’s public parks this August, Simon Bolivar and Parque Metropolitano, and in an open air theater, La Media Torta.

For the first time, this year’s event sees the exclusive unveiling of new albums, alongside the reunion of much-loved bands and the performance of rock classics, Rock al Parque announced on their website.

Though rock is the lifeblood of this festival, a variety of different genres are represented in this year’s lineup, including reggaeton, ska rock, metal and blues. Over 20 national artists will represent Colombia’s Blues Society, performing songs from acts like Vertigo, The Black Cat Bone, Charles Eliot Jr and Carlos Reyes, reported Bogota’s radio Santa Fe.

The full lineup is to be released on July 16 on the Rock al Parque website.
