Colombia’s trade minister met the Miami-Dade County commissioner Wednesday to explore new trade opportunities following the enactment of the Free Trade Agreement with the U.S. on May 15.
At a trade mission in Florida, Colombian trade minister Sergio Diaz-Granados met with Bruno A. Barreiro, U.S. trade officials and representatives from twenty companies based in Miami-Dade County interested in doing business with the Andean nation.
The businesses represenatives from the financial, telecommunications, transport and logistics sectors met with executives from similar industries in Colombia.
According to Diaz-Granados, the officials agreed on a working plan to promote and develop new opportunities, not just in the state of Florida, but throughout the United States.
Maria Claudia Lacouture, president of Proexport, Colombia’s trade and tourism promotion agency along with the marketing director of Miami International Airport, Chris Mangos, also attended the meeting.
Representatives from the International Trading Center in Miami will be visiting 16 cities in Colombia during May and June, offering business solutions to Colombian companies wishing to set themselves in the U.S. market.
