Colombia will ask the Organization of American States (OAS) to
reject “insults” to Colombia made by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
in his weekly television broadcast.
In Chavez’ weekly ‘Alo Presidente’ he instructed party members to strengthen ties with socialists in Colombia and accused his Colombian counterpart Alvaro Uribe of trying to “prevent Chavismo to enter Colombia.”
According to Colombia’s ambassador to the OAS, Luis Alfonso Huyos, this is “blatant intervention” in Colombian domestic affair. Chavez’ accusations that Colombia is a narco state surpasses all limits of courtesy, respect and wisdom.
In his weekly speech, Chavez ordered Venezuelan authorities to investigate all Colombian companies with offices in Venezuela to investigate if these companies were used for the laundering of drug money.
The ambassador wants the inter-American organization to reject Chavez’ remarks when meeting Monday.
