The Colombia Stock Exchange, BVC, is to change its timetable to correspond with that of the New York Stock Exchange.
The stock exchange is changing its opening hours in order to harmonize with the markets of Peru and Chile, with which the BVC has an integrated trading platform, MILA, a BVC spokesperson said.
“We have made a change to our timetable in January of last year to close and open at the same time as the New York market, because that is the same time that the Peruvian and Chilean markets open,” the BVC representative said.
“What is going on is a matter of access. The change in the timetable of the BVC has the objective of internationalizing and offering better access to foreign investors who operate in the Latin American markets.” MILA, the Integrated Latin American Market started trading in May 2011.
The market operate on Eastern Standard Time and adjust for Daylight Saving. During winter in the northern hemisphere, trading will take place between 8:30AM and 3:00PM and during the summer from 9:30AM to 4:00PM.
The new timetable will take effect from February 6.
