Colombia soccer star Pablo Armero was arrested in Miami Tuesday after being accused of domestic violence.
According to the 29-year-old defender’s wife, Armero turned violent after she refused to have sex while both were staying at the Hotel Metropolitan in Miami Beach.
He was arrested after several complaints by neighbors. He was subsequently accused by his wife of cutting off part of her hair. Both had allegedly been drinking.
The soccer player, who was left out of Colombia’s Copa America squad, has a history of domestic violence, his wife told Miami police.
Armero’s career has been marred by several scandals caused by his extravagant and sometimes violent behavior.
When playing for Brazil’s Flamengo, he was caught partying with a series of prostitutes. He ran into trouble with police when he aggressively refused to take an sobriety test after being stopped driving through Udine, northern Italy.
