Colombian authorities seized 936 kilos of cocaine and destroyed two drug smuggling shipyards on Thursday.
The cocaine, with an alleged street value of $23 million, was hidden in waterproof canisters among mangroves in the San Bernando archipelago, 50 nautical miles northwest of Cartagena.
In other operations, two different workshops building submarines and boats to transport cocaine were destroyed in the department of La Guajira.
The first was on the banks of the river Tapias, Dibulla municipality, where three boats were discovered – one completed and two in the final stages of construction – alongside a thousand kilos of lead, 550 gallons of resin, fiberglass rolls, plywood, PVC piping, and molds.
In the village of Pelechua, Riohacha municipality, one completed vessel and one partially built vessel were found, alongside boat building materials worth an alleged $57,000 and 25 bins containing components for processing cocaine.
