Colombia’s soccer federation has sacked Leonel Alvarez as head coach of the national team, local media reported Tuesday.
Alvarez was fired after having lead the “Cafeteros” for no more than three World Cup qualifying games in which the national team got four points.
The soccer federation did not announce who would succeed the sacked coach, who was promoted from assistant coach after his predecessor Hernan Dario Gomez resigned over hitting a woman in a bar.
Colombia has until June next year, when the team plays its next World Cup qualifier in Peru, to find a replacement for Alvarez.
