Colombian health authorities raised the number of patients carrying the
AH1N1 virus, or swine flu, to 64 on Friday after confirming seven new cases.
Four cases of the influenza have been reported in Bogota, two in Medellin and on in Cali.
Five of the patients showed symptoms of the AH1N1 virus after traveling to the United States, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. Another one had contact with a confirmed influenza case in Colombia and the last patient did neither travel abroad nor had contact with a confirmed case.
All seven patients are treated at home and are allowed no visitors.
Since the break out of the virus, Colombian authorities issued an
alert for possible swine flu in 1,624 cases. 404 people are considered
“suspicious cases” because of symptoms that resemble that of AH1N1.
