This year’s rainy season in Colombia left 75 people dead, the Red Cross says. 742 thousand people have damages to their land or home.
Carlos Ivan Marquez, regional director of the International Committee of the Red Cross, told Colombian news agency Colprensa that his organization sent 200 tons of aid to victims of floods and landslides in the country.
This year’s rainy season started in March and is expected to continue until mid December.
According to Marquez, this year’s rain has been particularly destructive, because it continued in June, July and August, which usually are dry season.
The Red Cross official expects the total number of victims of this year’s rain to exceed that of 2007 when a million of people were affected.
