Colombia has ordered 1.2 million vaccines against the swine flu for its 45
million inhabitants. According to the country’s Social Welfare
Minister, it is not necessary to vaccinate every Colombian.
Minister Diego Palacio said Health authorities will prioritize who will be the first to receive a vaccine.
“We think we should prioritize which group of people needs to be vaccinated. For example, pregnant women and officials who attend health problems,” the Minister told radio station Caracol.
So far, Colombia has recorded 641 cases of confirmed AH1N1 infection. 36 of these cases were fatal.
