Colombia’s Colcap index fell 0.59% Monday as the majority of names were in negative territory (21 losers vs. 9 gainers). Canacol was roughed up for a loss of 8.33% and Pacific Rubiales was down 3.14%. Volume registered COP151.4 billion.
AviancaTaca reported an increase of passengers during August of 17.2% yoy with occupancy rates of 79.1%. Available seat kilometers were 26.8% higher for the domestic business and 11% more for international flights than they were in August of 2010. Traveling has seen strong demand similar to this year’s retail sales which have been growing in double digits.
The peso finished the day weaker at 1,907.00 after a strong morning.
