Colombia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reiterated the government’s categorical rejection of the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Maria Holguin said through a press release that Colombia supports the UN Secretary General and welcomes the efforts and results of all fact-finding missions.
Minister Holguin also asserted that the wide-scale use of chemical weapons and high-caliber weapons against civilians constitutes a “crime against humanity.”
“Colombia encourages the UN to do everything it can to complete its mission in Syria and urges other countries to respect the UN’s orders and decisions in order to make the mission easier,” added Holguin.

Minister Holguin also made note that all parties involved with the situation must respect the human rights of all ethnic and religious groups in Syria as many of them are civilians and just caught in middle of the alarming situation.
Finally Holguin called upon the UN Security Council to work to make any decisions that could end the plight in Syria, and lead to the paths to peace.
In a report, the UN stated they had found “clear and convincing evidence” that a chemical weapons attack took place in the Syrian Capital Damascus on August 21.
