This November marked the start of the “Shakira Route”, a mobile museum devoted to the iconic Colombian singer.
The innovative project gives locals, tourists and fans a new opportunity to get closer to Shakira. The museum, which began in Shakira’s hometown Barranquilla, is said to be filled with her music, as well as other souvenirs and personal items.
The latest shrine to the Colombian star was inaugurated this month with festivities in Barranquilla, in the northern province of Atlantico. The event included a tour of places connected to Shakira, such as her charitable Barefoot Foundation.
Attendees also had the opportunity to see different objects that documented the young singer’s life, such as iconic photos and awards.
The museum will continue operations in 2013 as part of Barranquilla’s bicentennial celebrations.
Diana Acosta Miranda, who is helping to organize the city’s bicentennial events, regarded the museum as, “a gift to Barranquilla in its Bicentennial year, featuring one of its most prominent figures and dearest daughters.”
The idea was spearheaded by Mireya Villamizar and Youth Group Founders of Bilingualism.
