Germany defeated five-time World champion Brazil 7-1, to ‘avenge’ Colombia’s quarterfinal loss. Colombians in the streets and across social media have showed their joy at Germany’s victory.

Colombians on social media heavily praised the German team for their victory over Brazil in the semifinal match.

Germany scored four goals in five minutes to defeat Brazil 7-1. Miroslav Klose, Sami Khedira, Thomas Muller each scored one goal, while Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle scored two. Brazilian Oscar scored a consolation goal in the closing stages of the match to avoid a thorough thrashing.

Memes are starting to fill Colombia social media.

Famous Colombian journalist Daniel Coronell, stated via Twitter that the victory was, “7-1 in favor of justice.”

Colombia lost to Brazil 2-1 amid Colombian media reports of a fixed game, while the international media blamed bad officiating for the lack of yellow cards, despite numerous fouls that occurred throughout the game.
