Colombia’s defense minister and armed forces commander traveled to Lima on Tuesday to meet with their Peruvian counterparts and hand over information regarding alleged FARC presence in Peruvian territory.
The visit follows allegations by Peru’s armed forces commander that FARC guerrillas use areas over the Peruvian border as a place to rest from the Colombian military.
According to radio station Caracol, Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera and armed forces commander Admiral Edgar Cely will deliver information found on the computers of slain FARC commander Mono Jojoy to corroborate these claims.
Colombia, Peru and Brazil are in the process of improving military cooperation in the countries’ border region.
