After decades of being virtually invisible on the tour date lists of international music acts, Colombia — and primarily Bogota — is finally becoming a destination for trend-setting bands.
Colombian concert organizers have been working on booking international acts for the Colombian capital, which first established the arrival of rock mammoths like Kiss and Iron Maiden, but is now increasingly receiving more modern acts.
Paola Casasbuenas Barrero, Press Officer for concert organizer T310, says that along with organizing concerts for important Colombian artist like Calle 13 and Super Lito, her organization has attracted international artists like Franz Ferdinand, The Asian Dub Foundation, Crystal Castles and, coming up in February, LCD Sound System.
Casasbuenas told Colombia Reports that the country is gaining momentum in attracting new, international artist. “Colombia is a very nice country with good people,” said the concert organizer. “When artists leave they … remember the audience and they want to come back.”
According to Casabuenas, artists coming to Colombia “complement” local artists at music festivals like Rock Al Parque, Estereo Picnic and Festival Centro. Artists coming to Colombia this year show that the festival and concert scene in the country is “growing up. We want to have best artists in the world.”
