Colombia will celebrate Cultural Heritage Month in September, with conventions, exhibitions, and film screenings taking place around the country.

The event which aims to highlight the importance of the “popularization, protection, and ownership” of the country’s heritage by all Colombians.

Juan Luis Isaza Londoño, head of heritage for the Ministry of Culture, said “this September will be an opportunity to think about our cultural heritage and to build bridges to its ownership by the public,” with the aim that “all Colombians live and feel their cultural heritage.”

On September 2 at 6PM the National Museum in Bogota will show three documentaries from the “Memories of Liberty” project, made by indigenous and Afro-Colombian groups.

On September 23 and 24 the first National Meeting on Heritage will be held in Villa de Leyva.

There will also be a traveling exhibition on “The City and Modern Architecture in Colombia, 1950-1970,” and an exhibition of photographs on the theme “Keep an eye on Cultural Heritage.”
