The third round of negotiations over a free trade agreement between Colombia and South Korea start in Seoul on Monday.
The head of the Colombian delegation, Santiago Pardo, told Spanish press agency Efe that he hoped for “a very good result” in the third round of talks between the two nations.
Colombia hopes to gain access to South Korea’s industrial and fish market, Pardo said.
According to the delegate, Korea is “reserved” about free trade in agriculture and livestock, where Colombia has “competitive advantages.”
The first round of talks concluded in December.
Trade between the two countries was worth US$922 million in 2009. Colombia imports mainly cars and electronic goods from the Asian nation, and exports coffee and natural resources like coal and nickel.
