The military of Colombia and Peru combined forces the past few days to fight the FARC around their common border.
According to newspaper La Nacion, joint forces of the Colombian and Peruvian army combed through the area of the Putumayo river in the last two days, in order to dismantle the FARC and to ensure sovereignty of both states in the border zone.
Main purpose of this joint action was to prevent the passage of the guerrillas and drug traffickers on the important water border.
The operation came to several villages along the Middle Putumayo and listened to the concerns of the local residents. The military also brought humanitarian aid to vulnerable communities in this area, La Nación stated.
