The presidents of Colombia and Peru are planning to meet in the northern Peruvian city of Iquitos to hold the first binational cabinet to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries.
President Juan Manuel Santos said that government ministers would be meeting to “resolve problems and make decisions.”
Topics of discussion will include: governance, social and development matters, commercial opportunities, security and defense, and border matters, according the Peruvian Embassy’s website.
Trade between the two countries in 2013 totaled more than $2 billion, with Colombia exporting more than $1.4 billion in goods to its southern neighbor.
