Colombia elected a new Congress on Sunday. Most of the votes have been counted, with less than 3% still being counted. The following graphs show the preliminary results for both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Senate votes
This graph represents the percentage of the total vote each party received in Sunday’s election.
Senate Seats
The Senate is the upper house of the Congress of Colombia and has 102 members elected for four-year terms.
In the last elections (in 2010), each Senate candidate needed to earn a quota proportion of roughly 90,000 votes to win a seat.
There are also seats for Indigenous and Afro-Colombian Senators, which were elected on separate ballot paper on Sunday.

House Seats
The House of Representatives is the lower house and has 166 members, also elected for four-year terms. The house is based on local districts, so each seat represents a geographic region. The pie chart below shows the number of house seats won by each party.
