Clash between police and FARC results in guerrilla death

Rebels from the guerrilla group FARC have allegedly been injured and one killed on Monday as a result of a recently intensified police offensive in Colombia’s southern department of Caqueta.

Police have strengthened their offensive against FARC strongholds in 16 municipalities within the department of Caqueta, a region with a strong FARC prevalence. The operation allegedly led to an armed confrontation between police and guerrilla members.

According to newspaper El Espectador, the police intervention prevented a terrorist attack on a police building in Caqueta.
