The Cartagena Tourism Corporation renovated and revamped its official website Monday in the hope of attracting more tourists, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of the Colombian coastal city’s independence on November 11.
The Chief Executive of the Cartagena Tourism Corporation Luis Ernesto Araujo Rumie said that the new makeover to www.cartagenadeindias.travel depicts a more lively, enjoyable, and friendly webpage where visitors “can live a thousand stories and experiences that only the magic of Cartagena de Indias offers.”
The fundamental objective of the site is to strengthen the Cartagena de Indias brand and extend the touristic offers of the city to travelers of the world.
Araujo said that the new version of the web portal would provide practical content for tourists, including popular city sites, calendars of events, and developments in the tourism sector. The site includes multimedia material, and is interactive with and open to social networking. Visitors can also share their stories through text, audio, or video.
Last year the website received 100,000 visitors per month and 1.3 million visits throughout the year from various countries such as India, Russia, Germany, USA, Poland, China, Argentina, and Brazil.
“We also want to reach 200,000 visits a month, and that through the web more people decide to come to Cartagena de Indias, patrimonial city of the world,” commented Araujo on the desire to double the site’s traffic.
