Paramilitary boss Salvatore Mancuso is working on an agreement with
U.S. justice, magazine Cambio reported Wednesday. According to the
magazine, Mancuso could get a reduced jail sentence in exchange for
full cooperation with Colombian justice.
It would be the first time in U.S. history that cooperation with a foreign country’s justice system is included in a plea agreement.
The former head of paramilitary organization would be willing to start confessing his responsibility in numerous massacres and cooperate with Colombia’s Justice and Peace law that includes not just the confession of crimes, but also the reparation of victims.
In exchange the judge can decide to sentence the AUC commander for less than the 30 years he possibly would get for his alleged parttaking in drug trafficking.
