Brazil’s Neymar dares Colombia’s Zuñiga to take ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Brazil’s Neymar challenged the Colombian soccer star responsible for ending his World Cup run to pour a bucket of ice water on his head for an ALS fundraising campaign on Tuesday.

The ALS Association launched a successful fundraising campaign to end ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The fundraising campaign uses social media to spread the message to donate money or dump a bucket of ice-cold water on their heads and challenge friends.

Colombia’s Zuñiga accepted the challenge yesterday after being called out by Neymar on Sunday.

It would seem that the two players are back to fun and games after an ugly flying kick by Zuñiga had Neymar leaving the stadium on a stretcher during Colombia’s World Cup match against Brazil.

As of Sunday, the Association has raised over $13 million compared to the $1.7 million raised last year without the fundraising campaign dubbed the”ALS ice bucket challenge,” according to the ALS Association.

Lou Gehrig’s Disease is a “progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.” The disease takes away the brain’s control over the body’s muscles, eventually leading to death, according to the ALS Association website.
