A Colombian army raid on a FARC camp in the northern department of Bolivar left four members of the guerrilla group dead, of whom one is thought to be prominent leader alias “Rubiel Colorado,” reported El Tiempo.
The raid took place in the rural region of San Pablo, in the south of the Bolivar department, with a locally operating brigade of the Colombian army dropped four bombs on the FARC encampment.
According to army commander Alfredo Bocanegra, the bodies of four people were found after the attack, three of which have been identified as alias “Erika,” the lover of “Rubiel Colorado,” alias “Duvan,” the second in command of the FARC’s 24th Front and “Colorado’s” bodyguard, alias “Edinson.”
Authorities suspect that the fourth body is that FARC leader “Rubiel Colorado” himself.
The bodies of the four people will be sent to forensics agency Medicina Legal to confirm their identities.
Also discovered on the site were several computers belonging to the guerrilla group, as well as arms, explosives and large quantities of illegal drugs.
