Santa Marta’s Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art celebrates its 25th anniversary today with an exhibition of Latin America’s greatest modern artists in the coastal city of Santa Marta.
Some 30 works representative of Latin America’s modern art movement will be on display. The “Grandes Maestros” exhibition includes pieces from their permanent collection and works that are on loan.
According to Zarita Abello Bonilla, the curator of the exhibition, “the exhibition is a journey through the beginnings of the museum’s collection…which are an insight to a century of changes and great production…and also brings a little work from recent artists who have recently been added to the collection.”
Works from artists such as Alejandro Obregon, Nadin Ospina, Hernando del Villar, Fernando de Szyszlo, Carlos Cruz Diez, Enrique Grau ad Jorge Elías Triana will be on display until October 30th.
An event will also be held at the Altar de la Patria tonight to commemorate the museum’s founding and the opening of the exhibition.
