Bogota’s Chamber of Commerce and Proexport, Colombia’s trade and tourism promotion agency formed an alliance to improve the supply of exportable goods from Bogota companies, financial publication Dinero reported Tuesday.
The aim of the alliance is to offer complementary services leading to preparation, adaption, and international promotion of exportable goods from the country’s capital.
Consuelo Caldas, the president of Bogota’s Chamber of Commerce said “it is necessary to join forces, both public and private, in order to support the entrepreneurs in market diversification, making the most of commercial accords, and improving our competitivity.”
“We will go along with this process, providing information about opportunities, products, markets, requirements, channels, and strategies to export successfully and we will take charge of the international promotion of the companies that are ready,” said Maria Claudia Lacouture, the president of Proexport Colombia.
The Chamber of Commerce will concentrate on developing a plan of action for exporting competitively while Proexport will focus on facilitating the supply goods to international markets through business forums and missions abroad.
According to figures from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism, exports from Bogota in 2010 reached $2.95 billion.
