Rioting youths attack a Bogota TransMilenio bus with some 80 people on board, injuring the driver and one passenger.
The midday riot was reportedly instigated by traders and sellers in the commercial sector of San Andresito, Bogota, who were protesting against the increased control measures from national customs and tax agency DIAN, El Tiempo reported Friday.
The protesters stopped the bus and attacked it by throwing stones, smashing the windscreen, and vandalized the bus station and caused traffic disruptions along Carrera 38.
This is the fifth time this year a TransMilenio bus has been the target of criminal damage, with this incident estimated to cost over $50,000 to repair.
Security cameras in the area have helped authorities to identify the vandals, resulting in the arrest of six people so far. The two injured people have been taken to hospital.
