Colombian police are preparing for a wild night at the Iron Maiden concert in Bogota on Sunday, Caracol Radio reported.
The British heavy metal band will take to the stage in Bogota on Sunday, two years after their last Colombian concert turned into an all-out riot. The 2009 concert saw heavy metal fans clashing with police and numerous arrests.
Police have beefed up security measures this time, with extensive road closures and some 1,000 extra police standing guard. The police said these measures have been put in place to ensure normal concert proceedings.
Organizers are expecting about 8,000 spectators to pack the stadium.
The concert site at Parque Simon Bolivar has witnessed a number of rioting music fans. In 2010, Metallica fans tried to crash the stage, resulting in another riot.
Iron Maiden’s “The Final Frontier” world tour began in Moscow on February 11, 2011 and will visit a total of 26 cities in 13 countries over five continents.
