Public service workers in Colombia’s capital Bogota have begun to strike in the early hours of Thursday claiming they have not been payed for six weeks, local media reported.
Employees for Aguas de Bogota, a company tasked with sanitizing run off water and trash collection, left 120 of their trucks standing and the treatment plant empty due to their concerns over not recieving three fortnightly pay cheques.
One worker was also reportedly injured as he tried to prevent trucks entering the landfill. Police intervened to prevent further violence.
Aguas de Bogota disclosed that the late payments will be made effective on Thursday.
