Anti-explosives experts have dismantled a car bomb that was parked in the downtown area of Colombia’s capital Bogota.
According to the witness who had warned the authorities about two suspicious individuals leaving the car unattended, he was told by policemen the SUV contained no explosives.
Nevertheless, Bogota police Commissioner Luis Martinez told W Radio that, since the warning, “work has been done … and the police was aware of the labor carried out” by special army forces and the prosecution specialists.
Explosion experts of the Prosecutor General’s Office inspected the car and found two explosives containing half a kilo of gun powder.
A prosecution official told W Radio that the bomb was set to explode at the opening of one of the doors.
No officials made statements about the suspects who left the car bomb.
