The mayor of Bogota visited flood victims in the south of the city Wednesday, acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead for those left homeless, according to Radio Caracol.
Interim Mayor Clara Lopez visited the flooded neighborhoods of Kennedy and Bosa yesterday, confirming that the affected families, numbering more than 2,000, are without basic utilities or any mode of transportation.
Lopez said in a statement, “I had to make my visit by boat because it could not be done using any other form of transport. To have to travel by boat in Bogota shows the extent of the damage and the difficulty of the situation”.
The municipal government has requested the assistance of the Colombian Army in preventing looting and criminality in the areas affected by the floods.
