Bogota Mayor Gustavo Petro’s popularity has dipped two months after taking office, reported El Espectador Friday.
According to a survey carried out by the National Consulting Center (CCN), the former guerrilla’s popularity rating has dipped from 71% at the time of his inauguration to 68% today.
Despite the dip in his approval ratings, some of Petro’s policies remain popular, for example his ban on carrying weapons in the capital is popular among 90% of the city’s residents.
The CCN poll came a day after an urban approval rating in which Bogota residents showed most pessimistic about the future of Colombia than residents of other cities. 52% of the respondents in Colombia’s capital were pessimistic about the future.
Petro is a former member of the now-disbanded M-19 urban guerrilla movement and a former Senator of the socialist Polo Democratico party.
