Bogotá issued free theater cards for the 2008 / 2009 season. This
theater passport offers exclusive treatment for users and special
discounts.

This strategy of the District Department of Culture, Recreation and Sport and the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra seek to bring dramatic art closer to the citizens and permit their access the ample offer that this artistic field offers the capital city.

Traditional theater, silent, experimental, youth, children’s, community, puppets, marionettes, narrators, pantomime, clown, street, and the great District Theater Festival are some of the genres and events that will be available for the citizenship.

According to the Department, last year, 1,000 credentials were issued and there was an average assistance of about 350,000 people, which demonstrated the success of the card.

In this opportunity, theaters, professional groups, puppets, children’s theater, the street theatre season, “Gesto Vivo”, the Story Telling Festival and the Academic Encounters will be included in the benefits for the card users.

The Bogota Theater Festival, the Theater Magazine and scholarship for Young Community Theater Creators will also be included.

The users of the “passport” will have the opportunity of attending the shows with another person and only paying for one. The passport can only be used twice in each theater.

The “Theater Passport” is free and can be claimed in the offices of the Culture, Recreation and Sport Department as well as those of the Philharmonic, tourist information points, meeting points and at the User Attention points of Transmilenio.

To access a list of the 27 theaters linked to the campaign and to obtain more information about the “passport”, call telephone number 287 10 77, extension 115. (Bogotá municipality)
