Bogota gets ready to celebrate a bright Christmas, investing $5.68 million in holiday decorations and lights.
Colombia’s capital will be illuminated with over 7 million lights and 186 miles of LED rope lights, in addition to snow-covered trees and Christmas charm.
The lights will be turned on from 6:30PM until midnight every night until January 10, 2012 in 73 different areas of the city, including central roadways, parks, and plazas.
Bogota’s mayor and sponsors launched the official Christmas light route titled “Todos Bajo el Mismo Cielo” (Everyone Under the Same Sky), which will include synchronized light and snow shows in the Zona T (Calle 85) and Usaquen Park.
For the “snow,” the city imported 68 snow machines which will be blowing out fluffy white water crystals every hour between 7 and 11PM.
There will also be live musical performances in the parks of El Tunal, Republica de Francia, Usaquen, and National; which will also host various moving light exhibits.
