Bogota is ready to turn on the approximately 8.5 million christmas lights that are part of the Colombian capital’s 2012 Christmas Route.
Santa Fe Radio reported that more than 53 miles of lighting will be used for the city’s Christmas decorations. The capital’s Christmas route will accompany various festive attractions and activities for Colombians and visitors alike to enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.
“Bogota will become the city that all Colombians want to visit and enjoy during the holiday season,” the city’s Government Secretary Guillermo Asprilla Coronado told the radio station.
Bogota’s “Christmas Road,” lined with christmas decorations, will go through Bogota’s southern, northern, central, eastern and western points, illuminating several of the city’s parks and streets.
The decorations will be fully hung by November 30 and be lit until the beginning of next year.
