Bogota-based Ballet Folclorico Tierra Colombiana celebrates it’s 32 year anniversary with special performance titled “Fiesta por Colombia” that recreates the country’s folk festivals and honors indigenous heritage.
The show, created and directed by Fernando Urbina Chuquin shows the carnivals, fairs, and major festivals in Colombia, mixing traditional ballet with folkloric dance.
The spectacle begins with the Cacique Cuatavita festival in honor of indigenous heritage and the festival of Palacio de San Carlos during the colonial era. Other famous festivities honored in the ballet include the Carnival of Barranquilla, the Diablo de Riosucio and Blancos and Negros from Pasto, as well as the Medellin Flower Festival, the Cali Fair, the fiestas of San Pacho del Pacifico, the fiestas of Caiman del Magdalenta, and other beautiful celebrations.
Colombia Tierra de Fiestas will also be paying homage to Joe Arroyo with the presence of and performance by his son Dinkol Arroyo.
Performances will be held at 8PM on Friday, October 28, and Saturday, October 29 at the Teatro Colsubsidio.
Ticket prices range between $21-37 dollars.
