Bogota‘s District Health Department announces a comprehensive health care plan for displaced Colombians living in the city, Radio Santa Fe reported Tuesday.
The new health policy will help the displaced population living in Bogota by connecting them to the Social Security Health System so that they can receive comprehensive and free care.
Displaced families will receive public health surveillance and a nutrition program under the ambitious scheme.
The body said that that the plan would be carried with respect for ethnic and cultural differences among the displaced people, and would aim at plan is aimed at disease prevention, cure, and rehabilitation.
The ambitious health policy also includes coverage for occupational hazards and processes to guarantee the right to adequate housing, and family and community land.
In November 2010 the United Nations counted 3.7 million internally displaced people in Colombia, making it the country with the most displaced people in the world.
