The central Colombian city of Medellin prepares to welcome the “Urban Garden,” a collection of fifteen incredible gardens designed by artists from around the world that was featured in Bilbao’s “Gardens of Spain” competition.
Created by designers, landscape gardeners and architects from around the world, the gardens each cover around 100 square metres, and collectively include around 300 species of plants. They will be situated in major parks and public spaces around Medellin, in an effort to brighten up the urban environment for citizens.
Urban Garden is a prelude to Medellin’s Flower Festival in August. After its run in Medellin the exhibition will move to Fifth Avenue, New York.
Medellin Mayor Alonso Salazar Jaramillo will be joined by representatives of Bilbao’s government when he officially opens the exhibition on July 9.
