Former politician and FARC hostage Ingrid Betancourt believes the
Colombian government and the guerrillas of the FARC are seeking talks
about people still held captive by the guerrillas.
Betancourt told Caracol Radio’s Voices of the abducted Colombian President Álvaro Uribe and the FARC “are looking for spaces for dialogue.”
“I have talked to many many people and I have the feeling the guerrillas of the FARC are seeing to make contact with the outside world again,” Betancourt said.
“The feeling I had when meeting President Uribe was that he’s a person who is willing to creating space,” she added.
The FARC still has some 25 high profile hostages it wants to exchange for some 500 guerrillas who were caputured by authorities in a so-called humanitarian exchange.
Betancourt repeated she will not return to Colombia because of ongoing threats, but will try to fight for the liberation of hostages from France.
