Three of the best chefs in the world will be coming to Colombia for the annual Bogota Wine and Food Festival.
Enrique Olvera of Restaurante Pujol in Mexico, Iñaki Aizpitarte of Le Chateaubriand restaurant in Paris, and Virgilio Martinez of Restaurante Central in Peru, are all listed in San Pellegrino’s list of the 50 best restaurants in the world.
Olvera’s restaurant is ranked 17th in the world and Le Chateaubriand occupies the spot below. There are no Colombian restaurants on the list.
The best Colombian chefs, including the Rausch brothers, Harry Sasson, Carlos Sanchez and Mariana Velasquez, will also be showing off their skills at the festival.
“This year we will be working in conjunction with chefs from each region so that the food fair has all the flavors of the many towns and cities of our country. We’re bringing big traditional kitchens so that the people of Bogota can enjoy some real native feasts,” the festival’s director explained.
All of the profits of this year’s event, now in its third year, will go towards the Bogota Workshop School, which provides vocational training for marginalized youths in skills like carpentry, gardening and, of course, cooking.
The festival runs from August 28th to September 1st and will take place in the Marriott Hotel, El Corral Gourmet Zona G, La Fragata Giratorio, Andrés Carne de Res, Crepes & Waffles, Park of the 93, Prime Blend Mabe and a bazaar in Calle 70A # 8-00.
