U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has arrived in Colombia for a two-day visit in which he will witness the official ratification of the Victims Law, as well as visit several parts of the country affected by the rainy season.
After being greeted at the airport in Bogota by Colombian Foreign Affairs Minister Maria Angela Holguin, the U.N. leader will spend this afternoon holding various meetings with U.N. representatives in the country such as Christian Salazar, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia.
At approximately 5:00 PM this afternoon he will then head to the presidential palace, the Casa de Nariño, where he will meet with President Juan Manuel Santos and witness the official ratification of the historic Victims Law, that will be enshrined into law reported Caracol Radio.
Ban Ki-moon’s Friday agenda will then conclude with a meeting with UNASUR Secretary General Maria Emma Mejia before having dinner with the president at the Casa de Nariño.
On Saturday, the secretary general will travel to Cartagena where he will visit areas in the surrounding region that have been affected by the devastating rainy season, as well as seeing the progress of several U.N. projects in the city.
The South Korean will conclude his visit with a visit to the Cundinamarca municipality of Soacha before leaving for Buenos Aires, Argentina, at around noon.
