Avalanche affects 30 families, 1 woman missing

An avalanche in southwestern Colombia affected 30 families and left a 50-year-old woman temporarily stranded Monday night.

The mudslide tore through the town of El Aguilla in the Valle del Cauca department of Colombia. It occurred at midnight and affected the homes of 30 families totalling more than 220 people. One woman who is 50 years old was temporarily lost but later found.

The avalanche was caused by heavy rain that also flooded many of the roads in the area.
