Authorities seize more than 20 thousand rounds of ammunition in Boyacá

Colombian authorities have seized 21,360 rounds of ammunition in a military operation in the eatern department of Boyaca.

Members of the army’s First Brigade, stationed in Santa Rosa, in the Maripi municipality, seized the rounds during a military operation called ‘Oasis 1’. They allegedly belong to a gang operating in the area.

The ammunition was hidden in several blue canisters along with an M-1 rifle, reports newspaper El Espectador.  The cache was found due to the information from a network of informers in the emerald mining area of the region.

No arrests were made, but authorities are investigating in order to find the responsible parties.
