Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega has caught the attention of Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, who is planning a summer swoop for the Wigan star, as reported by Goal.com.
“I have noticed that Arsene Wenger said in public that he wants me, but at the moment all I know is from the press. If an offer has come to the club, I don’t know about it,” Rodallega said.
“When I first came to the Premier League I wanted to learn, and of course I thought of playing for a bigger team,” he added.
The powerful forward could join the North London club at the expense of Eduardo and Niklas Bendtner, according to Footylatest.com.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is resigned to seeing the talented youngster leave the club as it has become increasingly difficult for smaller teams to compete with the big spending clubs.
“If Manchester United can’t hold on to Cristiano Ronaldo we haven’t got a chance of holding on to all our players. That’s the nature of the game,” he said.
Rodallega started his playing career at Boca Juniors de Cali, before moving to Mexican side Club de Futbol Monterrey in 2006. The young striker is the all time top goal scorer of the South American qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
