Arizona police on Thursday rescued 11 children, among them at least one Colombian child, who had been smuggled into the United States and held captive in a drop house.
The children – the youngest no more than two years old – were found in a home in the south of Phoenix.
According to Arizona news station ABC15, police were tipped about the drop house by one of the children’s mothers in El Salvador who said that her three daughters had been kidnapped.
However, police investigators say the girls’ families payed human traffickers to smuggle the children into the United States.
Two men and one woman were arrested in connection with the human trafficking case.
Police told press that they will try to reunite the children with their families.
